"Connecting with God, changing the world."

The ministry began in 1991. When it became apparant that the orphan problem in Mariupol had reach catastrophic levels, the church decided to take the ministry of working with this difficult category of children upon itself. These children were beggars, vagrants, thieves and drug addicts; many of them were also infected with HIV.The would-be future mentors began their work of saving children by preparing lunches and taking them to orphans who lived in various basements. Along their way they would tell the children about God, about how there was a better life without poverty and filth. A little while later the decision was made to gather the youth into the (at that time) rundown building (that is now renovated and has been made into a rehab clinic) so that the children could have at some manner of roof over their heads. God performed a miracle and in February of 2001 the kids moved into a restored building, where an educational program had been organized (many of the youth had never had any schooling).
